A Short Attention Span.

Burying my head in the sand won't make it all stop. All the information from popular culture, fake and "real" news sources, politics, and things obvserved on the street all get mixed up. It's such a confusing message. And I have such a short attention span.

For the Super Tuesday Burger Night this week, I made a Banana Cream Pie. It is actually the Banana-Dana Cream Pie from Tyler Florence's show Food 911. I particularly like the trick of adding a marshmallow to the whipped cream. I think it really helps the whipped cream maintain a nice consistency. I should have perhaps cleaned the counter before I took this picture. I also added bananas on top immediately before serving, which made it look slightly more impressive. I have been greatly enjoying the Tuesday Burger nights, they are a bunch of fun people to hang out with. Posted by Picasa

I went to the Maker Faire on Saturday April 22nd. It was a lot of fun. One of the highlights was seeing Diana Eng and Emily Albinski and their Blackbox Nation fashion show. I liked the Moebius purse that could be unzipped and the strap length would be twice as long.
There were a lot of robots and other homemade devices. I also like the biodiesel powered van and generator. And there were several large scale flamethrower type set-ups that were interesting. I guess I just have a touch of pyromania. Posted by Picasa

I recently rented the latest movie version of Pride and Prejudice. I liked it and felt it captured some of the spirit of the book, but it was not my favorite. Mr. Darcy grew on me, but I did not like Mr. Bingley. Of course it had to be shortened from the book which did force some changes. Dame Judy Dench was great in her role as Lady Catherine. I think I prefer the older BBC Pride and Prejudice mini-series, that one also felt more British. And it reminded me that I wanted to re-watch Bride and Prejudice, the Bollywood version which I thought captured spirit of the book quite well. Anything Jane Austen reminds me of Professor Ruff and his overwhelming love of all things Jane, which led to her portrait being included on the Humanities Building due to his lobbying.

I dislike the Bay Street shopping center in Emerville, but I am positively addicted to the Teacake Bake Shop. I learned that the first cookie was often called a teacake. The cookies are sublime. They have daily special cookies, my favorite (so far) is the Pecan Pralines. Just thinking about it now makes me want a cookies.
