A Short Attention Span.

Burying my head in the sand won't make it all stop. All the information from popular culture, fake and "real" news sources, politics, and things obvserved on the street all get mixed up. It's such a confusing message. And I have such a short attention span.

Sunday later afternoon naps just kill any productivity goals I had for the day. I had wanted to get Chapters 1 through 4 of my thesis printer ready and I only made it halfway through. Sigh. I was just going to rest for a few minutes and I think I slept for almost 2 hours. Then I had a headache, ate dinner, watched too much TV, did a tiny bit of work and now I think I have to give up for the day.

I realized how few days I have left before I start a job and leave Berkeley. I will be on campus for less then 10 days. Maybe even less than that. I can't believe the 6 years of my Ph.D. are over so quickly.

There have been a few books I have wanted to read lately. One of them is about a book club that is reading Jane Austen's books, The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler

The new blogger interface looks nice. Maybe that will encourage me to come here more often. Right now, things are pretty blah, I am waiting to get chapters of my thesis read and it is taking f*%#ing forever. And my one advisor is so useless.

I know it's May since all the big TV series are having their finales. The finale on The O.C. was great, but so sad. Poor Seth sailing off across the Pacific Ocean, the sun hitting the water was really nice. I wish I knew how to sail. Or had a boyfriend like him to take me sailing. The Friends series finale was meh. I can't really say I care that Rachel and Ross wound up together. So what. Back to fixing my incomprehensible thesis.

The hype about the last Friends episode on NBC is reaching epic proportion. If you don't watch it, then you ARE a loser, that's what the ads seem to be saying. I found one commentary out of plethora of them on MSNBC to be interesting. It pointed out that Kurt Cobain, killed himself before the first episode of Friends ever aired. Friends was there through most of my 20's (I have a year to go) while I watched people older than me live in a bubble where the outside world never touched them. Kurt Cobain and his music plus more music, was something that definite my teenage years (well, the latter half of them). It seems like a sharp contrast. What will define my next decade?

I have an update on the bizarre accident I spotted on Wed Apr 26th. I still don't know how the car got over the curb and up so high, but the after damage indicates the that car crushed some substantial looking bushes/trees and that is how it appeared to be floating.

Well, I was nice and went to lunch the guy, but I am still iffy about the whole thing. He's not horrible, just blah.

I wasted some time today looking at possible cable replacements since Comcast is evil. I think I am going to go with Direct TV. They have a nice lineup and with the first six months discounted, it seems like a better deal than what I am currently paying.
