I LOVE the Olympics, with the 2006 games in Torino. I think ABC with its Saturday afternoon Wide World of Sports really sharpened my sense of the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" where root for underdog heroes as well as soul crushing defeats. But I LOATHE Brian Williams, who was supposed to add a news commentary to the Opening Ceremony. I just wished that Bob Costas would have slapped him or gagged him. Yes there are terrible things going on in the world, but the opening ceremonies are supposed to be about nations coming together, putting aside their differences. And if a cynic like me is irritated, then you know something is wrong.
